Morris-Shea chartered a ship to transport equipment from Mobile, Alabama to the PEMEX job site dock. Five Fundex F3500 drill rigs, seven track-mounted concrete pumps, two 30,000-pound capacity reach forks, and thirty-two containers of ancillary parts and supplies were shipped to Mexico.
PROJECT FORD MOTOR CO. ELECTRIC VEHICLE MFG. FACILITY
Deep foundation contractor Morris-Shea installed DeWaal piles, rigid inclusions and shoring at Ford Motor Company’s expansive new production facility near Stanton, Tennessee. Nearly 10,000 DeWaal piles were drilled in sites throughout Ford’s electric vehicle manufacturing complex. Three major pits were excavated and the bases fitted with mud slabs followed with the installation of concrete slabs. Two of the pits began as sheet pile cofferdams and the third utilized wood lagging as earth retension shoring. Morris-Shea collaborated with the owner’s engineers to optimize an alternate design to the original specification for drilled shafts. DeWaal piles provided a value engineered solution that improved production performance while maintaining load capacity. The Morris-Shea team installs deep foundations throughout North America at critical job sites such as Ford’s massive electric vehicle manufacturing plant near Memphis.
PROJECT TITAN (MRO HANGER)
Morris-Shea, a leading foundation contractor, installed deep foundation piles for the new Titan Project Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Hanger at the northeastern corner of Pensacola International Airport. A total of 322 DeWaal Piles with two different configurations of steel reinforcing cages were drilled at the busy airport. Morris-Shea deployed a PVE 90 drill rig to accommodate the 80 foot height restriction inherent at many active airport job sites. The DeWaal piles were set in a subsurface soil environment of predominantly sands and silty/clayey sands that were overly moisture sensitive.
