PORT RENOVATION DEEP FOUNDATION

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Morris-Shea, an industry-leading deep foundation contractor, is completing installation of DeWaal Pile Systems and Partial Displacement Piles as deep foundations for multiple construction sites at the Georgia Port Authority renovation project, Savannah, Georgia. The new buildings will include terminal, administration, maintenance and parking structures. The expanded berth and container yard capacity will accommodate two large container ships.

DEEP FOUNDATION INSTALLATION
Morris-Shea recommended DeWaal Piles as a value engineered alternate to the previously specified foundation. Unlike augercast piles, the DeWaal system provides higher load bearing capacity. This proven deep foundation pile reduces material, minimizes costs, improves quality control and eliminates drilling spoils. Shorter Partial Displacement Piles (PDP) installed in some areas reduced spoils and improved production rates.
